  • I started learning how to read and write Chinese (and how to speak Mandarin) in August 2022, and I’ve got hooked pretty hard into the whole #! since then. I enjoy the analytic way that the language works, I enjoy how that spoken property in turn makes the written logography ideal, and I love the immense and multifaceted nature of Chinese history overall. For example, Daoism is the first time I've ever studied a world tradition that one might call a 'religion', only to think "Oh! This seems like it's for me."

    database is great!
ctext.org the old standby on the internet, as it were. as someone who isn’t proficient yet, i’d like some more modern english translations, but overall it seems like an abundantly useful resource if you’re trying to learn the language and do philology at the same time, like i’m doing.
