I started learning how to read and write Chinese (and how to speak Mandarin) in August 2022, and I’ve got hooked pretty hard into the whole #! since then. I enjoy the analytic way that the language works, I enjoy how that spoken property in turn makes the written logography ideal, and I love the immense and multifaceted nature of Chinese history overall. For example, Daoism is the first time I've ever studied a world tradition that one might call a 'religion', only to think "Oh! This seems like it's for me."
